Engine Labs, Greg Acosta explained “[The] core 5.0 H.O. engine came out of a low-mileage 1993 Ford Thunderbird in a sweet Facebook Marketplace deal. We’re going back into the original 5.0 Mustang movement! Project Retro 5.0 will recreate all the tech articles from back in the 1990s, but with the modern versions of components.” Since the 1980s, Fluidampr has been on the market selling harmonic dampers for high performance engines. So even though this engine series is a blast from the past, our harmonic damper design has stood the test of time.

Our small block Ford harmonic damper (p/n 650211) shines on this build. Greg mentions “rather than risk a parts failure that might end the whole project early, we decided to do our best to balance quality components with the spirit of the build.” Our damper design which is SFI-approved “went on like a glove” and is a reliable OEM replacement. Bringing Fluidampr onto this project provides durability and external balancing necessary to build a killer engine to perform on and off the track.
